Lucifer Was  est une formation norvégienne qui naquit en 1970.
C'est seulement en 1997 que leur premier album voit le jour .
Le groupe a indéniablement baigné dans le hard rock du début des 70's.
Du rock Progressif aux racines blues, entre heavy et prog,
si  Black Sabbath  les a marqué, leurs influences d'aujourd'hui
doivent plutôt se chercher du côté de  Deep Purple , leur côté heavy
les rapproche aussi de groupes tel  Uriah Heep  et l'usage de la flûte
tend parfois vers  Focus  et  Jethro Tull , avec en prime une excellente orchestration de cordes, violon, violoncelle sur " blues from hellah " (2004).
Avec " The Divine Tree " (2007) quatrième opus en trente sept ans (!)
Lucifer Was  ravira les amateurs de hard et heavy rock du style début
des 70's. C'est bien ficelé, distillé en toute simplicité, avec beaucoup de professionnalisme, de feeling et d'inspiration, c'est à la fois tendre et
rugueux, avec un son fouillé, heavy à souhait et parfaitement mis
en place avec grand professionnalisme .
