Van Halen  est un groupe de rock américain fondé en 1972. Le guitariste du groupe,
Eddie Van Halen , est rapidement devenu célèbre pour ses prouesses techniques et
sa sensibilité musicale. Il a surtout inspiré un nouveau courant de "guitar heroes"
grâce à la popularisation de la technique du "tapping".
Leur premier chanteur  David Lee Roth  s'est imposé comme un véritable
show man. De 1978 à 1998 le groupe a sorti onze albums, tous rentrés dans le
Top 20 du Billboard 200. Il a vendu plus de 75 millions d'albums à travers le
monde et reçu plusieurs nominations aux Grammy Awards. Van Halen  est
classé dans le Guinness des Records comme le groupe ayant le plus grand
nombre de hits dans la Billboard Mainstream Rock List. En 2007, le groupe a
fait son entrée au Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Depuis février 2010, le groupe
possède son propre opus de la série Guitar Hero : Guitar Hero: Van Halen.
