Joe Satriani  est un guitariste américain, très influencé par  Jimi Hendrix ,
il sait vite forgé une technique et une connaissance théorique musicale très approfondie,
de formation classique, son oeuvre est généralement considérée comme appartenant
au genre heavy métal, ce multi-instrumentiste est capable d'enregistrer un album
entier sans avoir à faire appel à d'autres musiciens, il nous propose aussi la formule
" G3 " avec d'autres guitaristes virtuoses, Il sera accompagné de  Eric Johnson  et
  Steve Vai  aux États-Unis et de  Steve Vai  et  Adrian Legg  en Europe,
formule plusieurs fois reconduite par la suite avec des guitaristes aux styles
très variés ( John Petrucci , Kenny Wayne Shepherd , Mickaël Schenker ,
Uli Jon Roth , Robert Fripp , Yngwie Malmsteen , Billy Gibbons ,
Neal Schön , Steve Morse , Andy Timmons  ou le français  Patrick Rondat ).
