 Mott the Hoople  se forme en 1969 autour du chanteur  Ian Hunter  mais
leur Hard-Rock influencé par  
Dylan  ne convainc pas le public et est à deux
doigts de
se dissoudre lorsqu'en 1972, David Bowie  leur écrit cette chanson,
" All the Young Dudes ", qui va les propulser vers le succès et devenir un
hymne du "Glam-Rock".
Elle fut d'ailleurs interprétée par son auteur lors
de la célèbre tournée "
Ziggy Stardust " de 1972, et par  Hunter , Bowie  et  
Ronson  en trio lors du concert hommage à  Freddie Mercury  en 1992.
