Lacuna Coil  est un groupe de metal atmosphérique / gothique ( parfois
qualifié de groupe de neometal ) italien créé à Milan, en Italie, en 1994.
Ils furent d'abord connus sous le nom de  Sleep of Right  puis d' Ethereal .
À l'origine ils jouaient un style de metal atmosphérique teinté de gothic metal
mais ils tendent aujourd'hui à évoluer progressivement vers la sphère du metal
alternatif avec leurs derniers opus. Leur musique s'inspire du mouvement
gothique, utilisant des lignes de guitare mélodieuses, alternant chant lourd clair,
avec une légère influence pop. Le groupe est influencé par d'autres tels
que  Paradise Lost , Tiamat , Septic Flesh  ou encore  Type O Negative .
