David Byrne  se fait connaître à la fin des années 70 comme chanteur et guitariste des  Talking Heads  jusqu'en 1989. Depuis  David Byrne  est engagé dans une carrière solo. A la fin des 80 il crée le label Luaka Bop
qui, en même temps que le Real World de  Peter Gabriel  pose les bases
de l'esthétique "World Music".
